The Index of Garden Plants, published by the Royal Horticultural Society and available through Timber Press in the United States, is an index to the over 60,000 ornamental plants listed in the four-volume, $800.00 Dictionary of Gardening.
Each entry in the Index of Garden Plants contains the botanical name, a brief description, range, and hardiness, including over 30,000 cultivars. Where available, common names and old latin names are also listed.
This book is quickly replacing the outdated Hortus III as the canonical reference for plant nomenclature.
