23 September, 2009 gallery additions

Fall is coming, despite my protestations.

So I grudgingly included some fall flowers in this week's updates, but I also snuck in some blatant attempts to boost traffic by catering to the most frequently requested plants on hort.net (like Viburnum).

The second draft of the database layout for the new gallery is now finished (all 1000+ lines of it). Of course, once I started feeding data into it I quickly discovered all kinds of special cases or extra needs that hadn't been considered.

Now I'm tweaking the database slightly, but the changes are minor and it should end up being so flexible and comprehensive that it will work really well for many years to come.

The next step is to feed old gallery data into the new database, then change the new design to talk to the new database. It's coming!
