It's not just that the DVD movie version is longer, which it is, but it also has all those neat appendices - background on the movie and how it is made, and interviews with just about everyone involved.

which for those who have already endured the 3 1/2+ hour movie... yipes,
I don't sit that long and had to wiggle after about 3 hours... but the
movie definitely holds your attention and you don't realize just how
long it was.
