Hi Tricia - here's my friend Elaine's advice on Savannah. She and Mike
raved about their trip for a solid week after they got back.

My #1 Advice: If you are going to Savannah first you really need to watch
the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. It is a great movie
filmed in Savannah.. Then of course once you go there and see and do
everything you saw in the movie then watch the movie again.

I would recommend The Pirates House http://thepirateshouse.com/. It has
been a pub since the 1700s and is haunted and we got many orbs in the
pictures we took. We had a glass of Chatham Artillery Punch ( served in the movie and very interesting history behind the punch) in the back bar at the
Pirates house. When we got back we made Chatham Artillery Punch at the
first family get together we had. The punch is very suave and deceitful so
be careful.

Also Clarys house is just a little diner that was in the movie and it was
cool to eat there. Its been in biz since 1903.

I recommend a visit to Bonaventure Cemetery

Description I found online:

Even if it had not served as the most memorable setting in the 1994 novel,
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, this remarkable graveyard would
still draw the curious. The moss-covered graves and monuments date back over
two centuries, and mark the resting places of Confederate soldiers,
generals, plantation owners and Savannah families of note. Don't come
looking for the famous Bird Girl statue, however. This signature icon of
Midnight Madness was relocated to the Telfair Museum when the heavy traffic
of adoring fans began to disturb neighboring graves.

We stayed at The Gastonian in the south historic district. We were just a
block or 2 away from Forsythe Park and we pretty much walked everywhere.

We walked to The Lady & Sons and the whole downtown historic area. The food
was just plain good southern cooking. Nothing fancy but pretty much what I
cook all the time according to my husband. I love Paula Deen so I would
recommend going there if you havent been.

The many squares in town are just gorgeous!

Savannah was very enchanting and I will always treasure our vacation time
spent there.

Andrea and all,
What would you recommend for a fast trip to Savanah in late January. I wish
we could put it off till later.... at least February.

You have all given me the greatest information in the past and made so many
our trips so much more memorable.
Has anyone ate at The Lady and Son's restaurant in Savanah?
Thank you for all your help!!
