Re: home : )/Amtrak

Hi Tricia,
I remember this room being a little cramped. It would not sleep more
than two. The seats faced each other with window on one side and wall/door
on the other. But you could lay down and not just recline like in a coach
seat.
We did our return trip in January during an Alberta Clipper.
Almost every switch from Salt Lake to Chicago had to be beaten open or
thawed due to the extreme cold. Also, in the Rockies, there were 66
avalanches that evening. One blocked the rail line and a freight train had
to slam thru the snow from the east to west direction to clear the rail for
the Amtrak to pass. We were sleeping thru all of this in our room. The
steward said that the freight train almost hit the Amtrak and as our train
went thru the gap, the snow was pressing on the train sides. Good thing we
were asleep. We finally got to Chicago about 16 hours late. Such an
adventure.
