Re: Almsbox - Ben has never asked for a handout, he only asked for fairness.
"I proposed a decrease in international memberships by 10-25% (for three
years), to help encourage international memberships."
Ben's whole point was to question why some memberships are sold by the AHS
below cost while others are sold above cost. I don't think Ben is asking for
a handout. He merely questioned policy.
All American subscriptions are subsidized for approx $1.75 per year
according to the figures that Kevin Walek presented at the board meeting.
I believe it is unfair to subsidize subscriptions based on what country you
are from(even USA) and therefore I disagree with your suggestion of giving
international members a subsidy. Everyone should pay for their membership
what their membership cost the AHS.
The auditor for the AHS, Irwin Johnson, refutes that USA subscriptions are
being subsidized. This is sad because I was at the meeting where Kevin
handed out this information and Irwin was there too. As auditor I think
Irwin needs to do his home work. Irwin called me a liar when I brought this
up a few weeks ago and all I was doing was quoting the figures that Kevin
presented to us.
Kevin has remained quiet on this subject even though he did all of the
research and presented his figures to the board of directors. C.H. Falstad
is not clear on the figures as is obvious by his public statement a few
weeks ago that said "if the AHS is charging less for memberships that what
the memberships cost the AHS than we have made a mistake."
I wish Kevin would be so kind as to post his figures again. It is a shame
that those making these decisions for the AHS are so unclear on simple facts
and figures that are presented to them.
Those wishing to donate money to support Ben or other international members
would better serve the AHS by paying attention to what decisions the board
of directors are making. The board meeting is open to all members at every
convention but hardly anyone has enough interest to show up.
We need more members to show their interest in the AHS and show up at these
board meetings. The board needs to let AHS membership know in advance some
of the things they are voting on so we can have input BEFORE they make their
decisions. The internet is the perfect place for these discussions but it is
being avoided like the plague by the board of directors.
I find it a shady deal that Sandy Wilkins got placed on the executive board
of directors after her husband Jim Wilkins was elected president. It is
doubly shady for the board of directors to meet at the Wilkins' house for
the November board meeting as is now the practice. I guess we are all
welcome there too as all board meetings are to be held in public available
for all members to attend. I wonder is all board members get travel pay from
the AHS to attend this second meeting? I don't know because no one has ever
Hopefully Jim Wilkins will consider his health and the health of the AHS and
decide not to run for the Presidency a second term.
My vote is for C.H. Falstad for president of the AHS. I think C.H would
gladly take the position but if Jim Wilkins decides to run again it would
put C.H. in the awkward position of running against the President he served
under as Vice President.
I hope Jim does the right thing for everyone involved and steps aside.
