Thanks to all of the volunteers who make the Hosta Library the great place
it is.

I think donating half of the First Look auction funds to the Hosta Library
is a great idea. The extra money after expenses could go into a cd or some
other interesting earning account to assure the continuation of the Library.

By far the largest expense would be if we had to pay for all of the
volunteer time spent on the project.

More money can buy more server space and allow for more photos or even
larger file sizes of new photos. The time will come when enough people have
fast connections that 200 or 300k photos will be a practicality.

Not that it's not a good cause.....but having an internet action to raise
money to go towards a printed ahs journal.......so people who don't have
computers can see more photos in print.....doesn't seem just. If money is
raised on the internet from people who have computers....then it sounds like
a good idea if this money is used to reach even more people with computers
and increase their interest in hostas. We have a huge potential around the
world audience.

Long live the Hosta Library.

Dan and Lu
