This is Tulipa batalanii.  It and close relatives come in a range of colors from yellow to brilliant red, and put on a good show.  They increase well each year for me.  They bloom with some of the smaller early bearded Iris, and look great with them.  You can't seen any Iris in this photo, but there are a number nearby.
