Neil, sounds like your place in Idaho was in a pretty nice area (at least by my standards). 
This one's a bit nicer.  I didn't take it as a reference shot, but because it was pretty.
This is looking across the front yard toward the east.  The Iris in the forground is 'Accent'.  It's a winner.  Right behind that is an old purple, maybe 'Prospero', and the light blue clump is the one I think is likely 'Claire de Lune'.
