Many thanks for the info Diane,

A number of Czech collectors go to different places every year.   They send out their seedlists every winter.  Some still have old seed they keep refrigerated.  For instance, Vojtech Holubec  went to Iran in 2004.  He collected these iris  and last fall, he still had seeds of songarica from the second of the three collection places.

You could email him to ask for his next list.  He is currently in the final editing phase of a book he has written on flowers of the Caucasus, and has a job as botanist, so won't have time for correspondence until the book goes to press.

The Archibalds, in Great Britain, have a list of seeds that varies through the year so that one needs to check their website fairly often.  http://www.jjaseeds.com/   They offer either wild seed or seeds from cultivated plants from wild collected seed. Currently, they are offering these Iranian iris seeds:

One or two pale, translucent yellow, almost stemless flowers with navy-blue zones below their yellow crests, appear between curved, silver-edged leaves. Very difficult to grow.

Original collection : Iran, Hamadan, NW of Hamadan. 1750m. Open gravelly clay slopes.
Original collection : Iran, Kordestan, SE of Qorveh. 1900m. Eroded clay hills.

A distinct, little-known dwarf relative of Iris persica, currently unknown in cultivation. It should possibly be separated at specific level from Iris hymenospatha. It apparently extends southwards from the Hamadan area through the Zagros range towards Esfahan but its precise distribution is as yet uncertain.

They had, but are sold out of two collections of I. lycotis.

Here is a list, though not from Iran.  Jan Jilek collected these last year and sold them until March 31.  I asked him about this a few years ago, and I think he said he sows any that haven't sold by then.  However, he has seeds every year. Price is in Euros.  His website has  pictures of Junos.  http://www.wildbulbs.com/
