This would be an excellant way to reduce the cost.
Perhaps future convention planners could include a
list of nearby accomodations with their normal
room rates, distance from the convention hotel,
transportation availability and cost along with
contact information.  It would be of great benefit
to those who are not familiar with the convention
city.
