AIS: Registration Info.

Rosalie, Mike, Neil, have brought up some great points relating the
registration data included at the time a cultivar's data is recorded. It
appears that Keith Keppel knows how to properly write a description and
perhaps it is time for a new standard to be used for registration to be as
thorough as Keith's personal method. A simple makeover of the Registration
Form to included additional characteristics seems to be a direction to go
in. Also, a Registration Information Packet describing all the terms and
fields on the form would be most helpful.. This information would be
printed in the R&I books, available for download from the website, or easily
mailed to someone upon request. When initiated, it could also appear in the

I understand that Keith Kepple is the Registrar, but who are the members of
the Registration Committee? Since AIS receives most of it's status as a
scientific organization for being the International Cultivar Registration
Authority for Iris this makes the AIS Board of Directors directly
responsible for all Registration matters. Have the directors established a
Registrations Committee with two or three directors serving along with other
knowledgeable individuals? Does AIS have any idea of the consequences of an
another organization petitioning to be the International Registration
Cultivar Authority to the International Commission for the Nomenclature of
Cultivated Plants? Which directors are familiar with the International Code
of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants?

I am now on my way back to bed since I am currently fighting a battle with
Strep Throat.

Cheers everyone,
