Hi Randy and List,
I hope the rest of them come up also. Last year I had a terrible
germination rate so I'm trying something a little different this year. My
seedlings are getting this premium spots in the garden this year with the
best soil and fertilizer also. After seeing Ken Piersons first year
seedlings compared to mine, soil is everything! So I am trying to copy what
he did. I have spent less on new rhizomes this year and more on soil
amendments. Many of my seedlings last year didn't increase very well and a
lot of them bloomed out. I suspect it was the poor soil they were growing
in. The reselected seedlings are being lined out with plenty of room and
premium soil. One thing I have learned is that irises need plenty of room to
grow. Simple statement but very true.
