People unaccustomed to watching this sort of thing and understanding its 
potential impact upon them may find the National Hurricane Center page helpful.

I find the 3 Day Cone to be a very useful graphic. Click on the small image, 
and a larger one will open just below it on the same page. There are also 
public advisories and such, updated at intervals, all from the folks who know 
best.
