Re: Grammar problem

Guten Tag Anja: Either one of the three possibilities that you have mentioned may be used .... BUT ... as I read them the second choice would seem to me that " cross iris A to iris B" means that "B" is the pod parent and "A" is the pollen parent. The other two indicate (to me) that "A" is the pod and "B" is the pollen. When I first began hybridizing I was taught that "A" BY "B" was the proper usage. Personally,I don't think that it really matters very much as long as YOU are certain which is pod and which is pollen.

And, by the way, there is nothing wrong with your English grammar. It is very much better than many people would care to admit.

Subject: [iris] Grammar problem

Hi everyone,
Sorry, my question may sound ridiculous, but I have problems with the English grammar. Do I say "I cross iris A with iris B" or "I cross iris A to iris B"
or "I cross iris A by iris B"? I would like to improve my bad English.
Greetings from Germany
