Re: Remontants or rebloomers.


The terms remontant and reblooming are synonymous. The  former is the
botanical term, the latter a popular English term.   The different types of
remontancy or rebloom are all assumed under either word.  The repeat bloom
was used first for the Siberians, a group where it is the most common form of
remontancy.  There were heated debates in the past over what a remontant iris
; for this reason special  awards for them did not become a part of AIS
 award structure.  They must just compete  in whatever category  a variety is
located, without special points for blooming twice.  Lloyd Zurbrigg  Durham
