RE: AIS Membership

In conversations with many people over the last
couple of years I have heard that some society's
require membership in AIS.  So what is done is the
local membership fee is large enough to allow
payment of the AIS membership and the local
society's membership too.  Everyone gains that
The members are up to date on the happenings in
the whole of the Iris world and the AIS membership
is stabilized.  
Why restrict the requirement to the Board members
of the Society?
