John,
There are many irises, most beardless with purple based leaves. The best =
description to date for I. minutoaurea, I think, is done by Zhao =
Yu-tang in the book "Iris of China" /by James Waddick and Zhhao Yu-tang/ =
pg. 108. There are sufficient signs to compare your plant starting from =
leaves, but there is no mentioned about purple based leaves. About =
leaves there is said: "Leaves narrow, strap shaped, 5 to 16 cm long, 2 =
to 7mm wide, apex acuminate, with three to five fine weins, without =
obvious midrib." You can be successful to identify only when you will =
have flowering plant. Living in former Soviet Union time I had several =
species from different botanical gardens with wrong names and I know how =
is sometimes difficult to identify plant even in flowering stage.=20
If you have no this book, tell me. I can rewrite you description.

Do you know (or anyone else for that matter) if I.M. has purple based =
foliage.
Mine looks like it does, although I really want to see some new leaves =
before
I pass on that.

I have potted mine in a mix of half azalea potting mix and half regular
potting mix with added vermiculite, perlite and sand for drainage. I =
wanted to
be able to try them in different locations and thought my native clay =
was too
neutral to be good for them.
