Re: mosquitos vs. black flies

How about deer flies?!  Got bit by both black flies and deer flies yesterday,
then in the evening had to end my iris note-taking early because swarms of
mosquitos chased me out of the patch!  Usually by the time the deer flies
show up here, the black flies are gone--but not this year!!  Really a
screwball season.  Everything seems to be jammed together.  I'm seeing
noticeable bloomstalks on my JIs now, which do not usually bloom until
2nd-3rd week of July.  All bets are off this year.
