Pacific coast seedlings

Ghio's catalog this year offers something like 50 PCI seedlings for
landscaping for about $60.  Have any of you eastern, impossible zone growers
tried this offer?  Seems like it might be a short cut opportunity to have
some natural selection among a lot of genetic material without having to go
through the seed germination step.
