I. setosa is the only iris native to Alaska. It is a beardless type, somewhat similar in appearance to Siberian irises, except the standards are much reduced in size, almost vestigial. I raised some from SIGNA seed when I lived in Utah - treated it the same as Siberian seed - I am sure it appreciated the chilling it got over the winter before germinating by planting in pots buried to the rim in the ground outside.
Juno irises are bulbous, not rhizomatous, plants from Central Asia. They somewhat resemble Dutch irises and are usually sold by specialized bulb suppliers.
