Re: Arum

I'd like to hear of others with hardiness experience and a willingness to trade.
Anyone have 2 cents to add for this Arumophile?

Jim,
I agree!  Arums certainly aren't getting the attention they deserve!  I've been growing
several species here in Raleigh, NC, USA (USDA Zone 7) with very good success.
From late Fall to early Spring, they are the only cold hardy aroids, other than the
infamous skunk cabbages, that can remind aroid-fanatics of how great this plant
family is.
My web site, http://www4.ncsu.edu/~alan/plants/aroids/arums/ lists all the species
that I'm growing out in the garden.
Cold-hardiness is one of the relative terms that means ever so slightly different
things to people.  I consider all the species that I grow to be cold-hardy, but some
do suffer leaf damage rather badly from the extreme cold temps that we do get
from time to time, specifically, A. concinnatum.  But it still delivers some outstanding
flowers.
