Re: Phillodendron Spiritus-Sancti

Dear Jill: There are probably several species, all of which were all called informally Philodendron santa leopoldina. I think that after Bunting described Philodendron espirtus-sanctae the remainder were essentially ignored but I think that at least one of these has been formally recognized. God only knows if any of these things are left in the wild.

I believe Philodendron spiritus-sancti is the correct, accepted species name. I had thought that Philodendron 'Santa Leopoldina' was something different, but this article from Aroideana suggests they are the same.

I am curious what this is actually called these days, used to be P. Santa Leopoldina, and with the change in name of so many non-climbing philos, what is this called now? Sorry if it is a dumb question. I got a seedling that is rather large from Ecuagenera US and it has grown a new leaf and doesn’t seem to be as fussy as I thought it might be. So it at least is a twofold question.

Thanks all!
