Hi Ron,

Nope, your eyes deceive you because none of my plants are in the ground. However, some people up here grow konjac in the ground; none of the rest are really appropriate. I think this far north (CT) nematodes aren't really a problem. If they were I might have troubles in my pots since my planting mix is in direct contact with the ground before I use it.

Eric,

I've never seen an Amorph. koratensis with a smooth petiole, so if the
choices are between that and palawanensis then I vote for the latter.

Please help ID this Amorphophallus, I don't know if it
is A. karotensis or A. palawanensis. There was lots of
downed tree branches in the bed where this is growing
after the 3 hurricanes that struck last year. When the
debris was removed so were the signs and accession
tags. The plants are about 3 1/2 ft. tall and the
petioles are smooth. Here are some photos;
