Greetings David,
I typically use Copper Hydroxide as dip
When Either preparing to store tubers
Or before setting them out I the spring
( I'm in Chicago area).
An occasional exposure is not problem.
You can get a build up over time of copper
In the soil if using it as a long term treatment
Another product is cinnamon - I have used on several occasions. This is another low toxic - non toxic product.
