Potted aroids

One of the smaller, hardy aroids which works well in pots is Pinellia pedatisecta.  I grow mine in a large, shallow pot and overwinter it in my basement, but it has seeded in my outside garden and withstands winter temperatures of -10F.  And here, I would warn you only to grow it in pots as it can spread very easily.  Best thing to do is to remove any flowers form.  They aren’t particularly showy, and the “berries” only ripen to a pale green.  Don’t know if the common Jack-in-the-Pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum) would work as well, though it does have more attractive flowers/berries and doesn’t spread as aggressively.
