Re: Fwd: Anthurium bakeri

I find that the more I look at, touch, and pay attention to my favorite plants, the faster they die.  I kid you not!  I didn't even see some of my Anthuriums this winter because they had other things over the top of them.  They did fine without me.

I am embarrassed because I have such a struggle with these 😂

Here are 2 youngins I currently have in the hospital because I managed to give them root rot. You can see in the 2nd photo that in the fluval stratum that one is successfully putting out new healthy roots which makes me so happy. I had to remove all roots completely from both. The one on the right I’m not seeing any roots yet but that doesn’t mean they aren’t there. So fingers crossed they both develop healthy root systems so we can start getting some healthy leaves!

I feel like if I do much as touch a waroq or look at it wrong the leaves get damaged 😂

One of my personal favorite anthuriums! I have dark forms that are hands down the biggest divas of my entire plant collection! I’ll never give up on them though :)

I don't have a picture yet; but will add one when I take a picture. In the meantime, here's my (also new to me,) A. warocqueanum.

Darn cat! :)
What constitutes "very small" for this species, since yours is already flowering?
I love how stiff / tough the leaves are! (Each has 2 leaves still.)

Mine is just a baby, so I don't have any care tips.  But, I have heard that the inflorescence is self-pollinating.  I have no idea if it's true or not.  Mine was flowering when I got it but I didn't get any seeds, which is fine as it's still very small.

They are beautiful.  I haven't had any problems and mine is in ambient humidity (35-40% on a good day) under a Barina grow light.  The only thing that irritates me is that my cat chewed up 3 of her leaves when I got her.  Damn cat...

Not sure if anyone saw; but I'm curious about Anthurium bakeri, and any cool info about this species.

Good morning gang! Nice to see more life in this group!
I got a pair of Anthurium bakeri a few days ago from a friend. I'd never seen one before - it's really neat - Very stiff pendulous leaves (Okay... horizontal, anyway,) and dark green. Anyone else grow it? How big do they get? They were/are in Sphag moss. Is this a good set up for them? Any interesting tidbits about this species would be appreciated!
Best, Jude
