Re: hybridization of Amorphophallus kiusianus

Hi Bernhard;

We pollinated the reportedly apomictic Amorphophallus henryi with A. dunnii pollen and got seedlings with intermediate traits, so it is possible to overcome maternal apomixis.  We did the same with the apomictic Hosta ventricosa, finding only one species, Hosta yingeri whose pollen would overcome the apomixis of the maternal parent.

Subject: [Aroid-l] hybridization of Amorphophallus kiusianus

Aroiders,

will pollination of a A. kiusianus with A. dunni pollen result in hybrid seeds or will the apomictic trait of kiusianus reign totally?

Very curious, Bernhard.
