Amorphophallus

Hello Aroiders,

I'm a new Amorphophallus fanatic, I started with A. bulbifer, konjac and
odoratus.
I'm living in hardy-zone USDA 8. (in the north of The Netherlands)

My question is:
Why is advised to grow A. species in pots and not in plain ground?

If someone can send me some material about A. I would be very pleased.
