Michael,
Let me know who has Amorphophallus paeonifolius and I will take a ride out
there.A little alcohol may dissilve the coating, followed by a quick rinse.

Subject: Yautia/Xanthasoma Sprouting
Dear List,
Every greengrocer in New York City has bins full of Yautia, and quite a
variety of other tubers - however, they are very heavily waxed and do not
sprout easily, if at all. Of course, the purpose of the coating is to
preserve them and keep them from sprouting - where are their priorities?
Does anyone know how to safely remove this coating to promote sprouting and
growing?
Thanks - Michael Riley
