Re: Naming Conventions

I can see the logic in both ways,  although one is a change in spelling. When speaking of lumber, 2x4 is pronounced "two by four." The "out of" is spelled slightly differently in, for instance, "ex nihilis" meaning "out of nothing."

I just wanted to make sure I'm reading the plant hybrid names correctly.

It's mom (seed bearer) x dad (pollen donor), right?

It's backward to me because in dogs it's dog x bitch.  The x stands for
"out of".
