Re: Monstera karsteniamun Peru mystery

Hi Carol,

I was hoping for responses to your question as I recently got a plant under this name.

Eventually I found this exchange, here on Aroid-L, not quite 2 years ago:

http://www.aroid.org/aroidl-archive/showhtml.php?post=24288

which offers the name Monstera siltepecana. "The Exotic Rainforest" was Steve Lucas's site, a friend who passed away ?? years ago now (more than 5). Steve was usually very careful with his nomenclature, verifying with authorities like Tom and Eduardo before putting anything into public view.

The pictures I get when I Google Monstera siltepecana are not exactly from botanically authoritative sources, but what they all have in common so far is they don't look like the plant I have. Very unhelpful, I know ... sorry.

Steve

Hello,

I would like to know if there is any scientific evidence of the correct naming of the plant called Monstera sp. Peru / Monstera karstenianum Peru / Epipremnum pinnatum Marble Planet. I know M. karstenianum is not a true species. There is so much speculation as to what it is but no valid origin or name. Does anyone know if there is any DNA work published on this plant?

Thanks so much.

Carol
