Re: An updated identification guide to the species of Amorphophallus (Araceae)

Howdy, Steve!

Thanks for sharing this. It is a great resource. I am curious what Lord P thinks of this work.

Actually, InGenta is the publisher for Blumea, and this is the final paper, not a preprint.

The paper seems to be well done. I have not heard of Scholten before. My only concern is the regional keys, which seem to be focused on the species native to those regions, but maybe do not address introduced species. For example, the Australian key lists two species, but I have seen wild populations of A. konjak in Queensland and New South Wales. I have also seen A. bulbifer naturalised in Thailand and Laos near human habitation, but it is not mentioned in the key for that region. Of course, this could easily be due to the fact no one else has seen these species there and made the information known.

Happy days,
Christopher

Aroiders,

As the subject says. The paper, from "Blumea", just appeared (dated
today) and is open access and freely downloadable from this link:

I've not had a chance to read much beyond the abstract, and it appears
to be a pre-print server, so I'd welcome thoughts on it from anyone
who's had a chance to study it, but in addition to a set of dichotomous
keys to the genus it contains a handy bibliography of other publications
on Amorphophallus.
