Community Food Initiatives can help anyone in the Athens area who would like to grow a garden but does not have the space to do so.

The Athens Community Gardens, located on West State Street, currently has gardening plots available for the 2004 growing season, a press release said. This opportunity is open to everyone, young and old, who would like to grow a garden in a community atmosphere.

An informational meeting will be held today at 6:30 p.m. at ACEnet's Food Ventures Center on 94 Columbus Road.

Everyone is welcome at the meeting where they can learn how to get a gardening plot and receive free vegetable seeds, the press release said.
