These raised garden beds will soon be filled with soil and growing plants, the
culmination of a community garden project for the East End. Wednesdaybs
garden party, held by the newly named Gus R. Douglass Land-Grant Institute at
West Virginia State University, served as an open house for the public to get
a look at the collaborative project, which will feature vegetable, herb and
ornamental gardens. A community garden is a garden maintained for and by the
community. The garden is behind Carroll Terrace in the 1500 block of Virginia
Street East. For information about the project, or to find out how you can get
involved, call 532-1670 or 552-8039.
