The land belongs to the NYC Parks Dept. Congratulations have to go to the Liz
Christy Gardeners, who hung tough,  Green Guerillas,  and ultimately NYC
Parks Dept/Green Thumb who listened to the gardeners and managed to get this
win-win deal.
