Healthy Garden
A community garden will give families a health boost.
The Community Regeneration Trust North East runs the
Green Lane Oasis, South Shields, through its food bank
initiative. As well as visiting the site to buy fresh
vegetables, people can also help to maintain it.
Volunteers can learn skills in construction and
training in growing produce. And schools and community
groups are encouraged to use the site at Green Lane
allotments in Brockley Avenue for growing vegetables.
The land also incorporates environmental features,
including a pond, water course and wetland, composting
and recycling facility and hedging.
