I guess I'll show my age now.
I remember the time when we did recycle containers
sensibly. It was a time when we lugged the glass soda bottles back to the market
and received our deposit back. It was also the time when the milk man picked up
our empty bottles and replaced them 1/2 gallons of fresh milk. We even brought
back our used light bulbs to the Electric company and got new ones. So I guess
my beliefs on recycling really lie in the concept of reusing. I know times
have changed but can't we at least have milk jugs going back into being
made into milk jugs, a soda can back into a soda can? Why
do we have to expend so much more energy (fossil fuels) into making a board out
of plastic that will end up taking more room up in the land fill? The point we
do agree on is NOT purchasing plastic products whenever possible.
Peope differ in thoughts and this is what makes the
world go round. I'm glad you put some thought into this issue
Julie.
All my best,
Deborah Mills
