Friends, This from Hope Norman Coulter, director of the Little Rock based Arkansas Hunger Coalition and longtime friend and ally of community gardens in her city, state and throughout the USA. Adam Honigman Volunteer, Clinton Community Garden Subj: grants available for school foodservice sites$10,000 Grants Available for Nourishing Bodies and Souls December 4, 2003 - The Child Nutrition Foundation and ASFSA are working together to provide $10,000 mini-grants for School Community Kitchens. These programs nourish the bodies, but also the minds and the souls of everyone involved. School Community Kitchens address the following goals: Increasing job-training opportunities for low-income individuals in foodservice Addressing labor shortages in child nutrition programs Raising awareness of hunger in the community Utilizing food recovery to produce meals for hungry children and adults Providing volunteer opportunities for students, parents, teachers or other community members. The next grant deadline is February 27, 2004.
