Development Director Job Opening at The FARM Institute
The FARM Institute is a model teaching farm on Marthas Vineyard with a mission to educate and engage children and adults in agriculture on a diverse working farm. We provide year-round educational programs in farming, land preservation, nutritional awareness, growing food and the culture and history of Marthas Vineyard farming.
We are looking for an experienced Development Director to work with the Board to generate sufficient operating and capital funds to secure our future as a valued community resource providing a substantial learning environment and producing high-quality agricultural products.
The Development Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a plan to raise operating and capital funds of approximately $400,000 annually. The successful candidate will have experience building and managing a fundraising program and a demonstrated track record of success soliciting large donations from individual donors and foundations. The candidate will have worked successfully with Boards and volunteers and understand philanthropic strategies and trends. An understanding of the Marthas Vineyard community and/or sustainable farming, agriculture or related industries is highly desirable. Excellent organizational and communication skills, strong work ethic, tenacity and high energy with a commitment to working in a collaborative environment are a must.
