JOB SEARCH:
PROJECT MANAGER
Full Time, based in DUMBO / Brooklyn, NY
Salary range: $40,000 - $45,000, commensurate with experience; includes
benefits.
Position is available immediately.
Slow Food USA is hiring an individual to manage a new, grant-funded project
which aims to reintroduce endangered varieties of fruits and vegetables,
grains, livestock and wild foods to the American table. This project, known
as Renewing Americas Food Traditions, or RAFT, is the cooperative
venture of 7 non-profit organizations, and has received its first three
years of funding from the Cedar Tree Foundation. As the grant recipient,
Slow Food USA will both allocate funds to the other organizations and serve
as the central project organizer.
The project manager will be responsible for working with the organizations
to develop concrete and achievable project milestones; establishing and
maintaining productive and cooperative communication among all 7
organizations and also with participating Slow Food USA chapters; ensuring
that the project remains on time and within budget; preparing semi-annual
and annual project reports; and working with Slow Foods accountant to track
and record all project expenses. The project will be conducted at various
locations throughout the USA and periodic travel will be required.
While the project scope has already been outlined and served as the basis
for the grant award, the project manager will also be responsible for
developing project details and refining the project as it progresses. An
energetic, motivated, and creative individual with proven ability to
cooperate with others is the ideal candidate for this position. Work
experience in food and environmental issues is useful, though not required;
however, the candidate must have prior project management experience with
multiple teams or organizations, preferably in the non-profit or public
sectors, and must submit references which include such organizations.
Summary of qualifications:
A minimum 5 years work experience, specifically in managing complex
projects involving 3 or more separate entities or organizations
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent writing skills
Experience with budgeting and basic bookkeeping / expense tracking
Excellent references
Ability to commit to a minimum 3-year term
