ACGA PSAs to present community greening on tv

Friends of the American Community Gardening Association,

In an effort to support community gardening, greening and food system organizations in North America, the American Community Gardening Association this week distributed public service announcements to television stations in four major metropolitan cities. Produced by Emmy award-winning videographer Rick Bacigalupi of San Francisco, these :30 and :60 second PSAs support ACGA in general, and encourage familiarity of local member organizations in these viewing areas.

The twelve stations receiving these segments are in New York (WABC-, WNBC, WCBS, NY1/Verizon, & Lifetime Cable), Philadelphia (KYW-3 & WTFX-29), Chicago (WLS-7 & WPWR-50) and the San Francisco Bay area (KRON-4, KPIX-5, KBWB-11). All have been contacted prior to distribution and each expressed interest in airing the tapes. There are two PSAs, each with a :30 & :60 second version and are fine examples of documentary video, complete with original score, smiling faces and do a great service of promoting the ACGA mission. They conclude with the ACGA mailing address and website as contact information.

IMPORTANT: In the immediate future, the ACGA website will feature a section announcing these PSAs. New visitors who have seen the PSA and visit the site will be directed to the "links" of community gardening programs by state, where they will be able to access information about gardening, greening and food systems programs. If your organization is not yet listed on the ACGA site, we encourage you to do so now. If you know of an organization not listed, please share this information with them so they can contact ACGA as soon as possible. It is not necessary to have a website link in order to be contacted by a potential gardener, if your project doesn't have website, a telephone number, mailing address or email can be used. We also hope that educators, politicians and funders visit the site to see what impact community gardening has across the continent.
