Subject: query re railroad station gardens
I'm researching a possible article for
Preservation magazine (published by The National Trust for Historic
Preservation) on the subject of station gardens, that is, gardens planted
around railroad stations. Apparently, at the turn of the last century,
there
was fierce competition among communities across the country to see whose
garden would be the most impressive as people arrived in town at the
station.
We're interested in finding out if communities are reviving, not the
competition, but the concept of elaborate gardens near railroad stations.
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Diane Ney
