JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Community Greening Manager
The Community Greening Manager is a permanent, full-time position with benefits working at the direction of the Greening Programs Director, managing and developing the Center's Community Gardening Program.
Responsibilities: development, coordination and promotion of the Center’s existing and future community greening projects including Wilmington community flower and vegetable gardens. Work closely and imaginatively with other DCH staff to investigate and facilitate the development of new community greening projects with interested groups and agencies, organize annual events, and develop and conduct educational programs for community gardeners. Organize and execute annual city-wide Gardens Contest and Awards Ceremony. Contribute to other Center programs, publications and events. Promote DCH and its programs by developing contacts with neighborhood organizations, local agencies, governments, home and community gardeners.
Qualifications: ability and desire to work with people in urban neighborhoods essential, experience preferred. Must exhibit imagination and vision in applying the mission of the Center in community settings. Excellent communication and organizational skills necessary and ability to take initiative essential. Physical work required. Knowledge of gardening methods needed. Driver’s license required. Availability for some evening and weekend work necessary.
