RE: largest community garden?

Maybe we need to develop a Guinness book of community garden records.
We definitely need to know oldest, largest, most plots, highest value per
square foot, highest altitude, etc.
Who wants to get it started?

Floyd Bennett is probably be the largest community garden in NYC or the

However, the largest community garden that I know of nationwide is the
Eagle Heights Community Garden in Madison, Wisconsin.
http://www.sit.wisc.edu/~ehgarden/ . Please wait to hear from others on this
matter before you go to press. Sally McCabe from the ACGA main office in
Philadelphia may have a more authoritative answer.

A cheap plug: The Clinton Community Garden ( the local community garden of
the NYT) was purchased in part by funds raised through a Trust for Public
Land sponsored advertisement in the NYT! Back in the Koch administration,
the Clinton Community Garden was in jeopardy of being sold to help allay the
city's financial woes. We "sold" square inches of the garden in the NYT for
$5.00 and raised $86,000 . If you visit us (on W. 48th St. between 9th &
10th avenues) you'll see our "money snake" painted on the eastern wall of
the garden. The city took the money we raised ( and a substantial sum from
the Clinton Fund) and made the CCG the first garden the first Green Thumb
garden to be transferred to Parks. Our website:
