Hi CGers,
We are delighted to announce that the registration brochure for "Gardens of
Diversity: Growing Across Cultures" (the American Community Gardening
Association's 25th anniversary conference) is now finalized and posted as a
PDF download on the ACGA's website.
The conference will be held in Toronto, Canada, October 1-3, 2004. Complete
info is on the following webpage:
<http://www.communitygarden.org/conf/conferences.php>
To download, click on the links on the left side of the web page. The
download should begin automatically. You will need Adobe's Acrobat Reader
(free from Adobe.com)
The Registration Brochure contains descriptions of all workshops and
presentations as well as an overview of the entire conference including 2
full day pre-conference workshops, and hotel and tours info. The workshop
descriptions will soon be posted as html as well, so that you don't have to
download the brochure every time you want to take a look at the
workshops...soon.
For scholarship forms (separate US/Int & Canadian) click on the appropriate
links on the left hand side of the page.
American and international conference goers can register and pay online in
US funds. Canadians must pay by cheque or Visa (in Canadian funds) directly
to us at FoodShare (by mail or phone).
We will have several wonderful keynote speakers, including City Farmer's
Spring Gillard author of the "Diary of a Compost Hotline Operator",
FoodShare's Executive Director Debbie Field talking about community
gardening as activism and Ken Jeffers, Manager, Access and Equity, City of
Toronto speaking about issues of diversity.
This year we are delighted to announce that there will be a larger than
usual international presence at the conference. Jac Smit and Joe Nasr of
the Urban Agriculture Network will be leading several discussion and
presentation sessions on international urban ag activities.
Please note that there are 2 pre-conference full day workshops scheduled for
Sept 30th.: one that is focused on municipal CG programs (and would be
great for your local govt staff to attend) and another on the Garden Mosaics
program at Cornell University <http://www.gardenmosaics.cornell.edu/>
If you plan on attending either, you would need to arrive in Toronto on Sept
29th. Again, info is in the brochure
See you in September! (plan to get to Toronto on Sept 30th--the conference
starts bright and early the morning of October 1st)
Cheers,
Laura
