Dear Friends,
I am looking for community food banks and gardens in DC area and near
around, to be visited by a Brazilian community leader who has won a
travel to the US as an award by FAO, by her works on food security.
Her name is Luiza, and this is a unique opportunity for her to visit the
US and bring back objective experience that she could help replicate
here. Her travel must start on August 12, and she must come back 15-20
days after. Maybe she will able to visit Boston area, and if you have
information on this area, please, send us as well.
Now she needs to present to FAO a schedule of her visits and possible
hands-on collaboration (for few days) to community gardens and food
banks and any other to fight hunger or improve food supply based on
community collaboration. Small Producer and Small Farmer markets and
fairs are also important places to be visited. Even 4-H projects in this
region, involving agricultural issues for children, would be very
interesting for Luiza, who is also a teacher.
I have already information on the organization below, and I will contact
it:
Capital Area Community Food Bank, Washington DC
645 Taylor St. NE
Washington, DC 20017
Tel: 202/526-5344 - Fax: 202/529-1767
Email: Cfoodbank@aol.com
I am looking for:
For the Hungry, Silver Spring MD
?? ??
And your suggestions, thank you
Best regards, Joaquim
I got previous contacts on food security, but refer to other US regions:
