Community Gardens and Waiting Lists

I would like to hear from community
gardens with long waiting lists. What is required to get on your
waiting list? Do any gardens require community service or any kind of
participation in the garden prior to getting a plot? If so, would you recommend
such a program for other gardens? Why or why not? Thanks ahead of
time for any feedback.
