Friends of Trees, an award-winning 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located
in Portland, Oregon, is seeking an executive director to replace Lin
Harmon-Walker, who is stepping down in order to spend more time with her
children.
Now entering the fourth year of a five-year tree planting campaign called
"Seed the Future," Friends of Trees welcomes applications from interested
applicants with experience in urban forestry, environmental or other
nonprofit organizations. The new Executive Director will be charged with
seeing Friends of Trees through the remaining two years of the campaign.
At current levels Friends of Trees coordinates 70 tree plantings a year,
with four major programs: neighborhood street trees, natural area
restorations, schools, and tree distribution. Major foci of this position
will continue to be public awareness, fundraising and staff management.
The ED will work closely with a 15-member board of directors and will be
responsible for a staff of 8, including two full-time Americorps members.
