Strung out on gardening are you? No twelve step program needed dear. Just a re-definition...... All of us community gardeners who compost year round, cloche lettuces, read garden catalogues in the dead of winter like murder mysteries and girlie magazines, start veggies at home during blizzards and never get the dirt our from under our finger nails are just gardeners. Period. Community gardeners are folks who create public gardens for their whole neighborhoods, providing neighbors with vistas of horticultural beauty and not a few veggies. Addicts are hooked on things which are not good for them, their neighborhoods or the world; however, community gardeners try to emulate the bees, who help grow community, their gardens and the world, one garden at a time while getting filled with the bounty of the sun, air, water and the sweet loam.
